A growing organization is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support daily accounting operations, financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end close activities. This role works closely with accounting leadership to ensure accurate financial records, support audits and compliance, analyze financial results, and improve accounting processes.
The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and able to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders while maintaining high professional and ethical standards.
Key Responsibilities
General Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Assist with month-end close activities and financial reporting.
- Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Review cash activity and resolve discrepancies.
- Record accruals, prepaid expenses, and other accounting transactions.
- Support accurate expense recognition and period-end reporting.
Financial Analysis
- Perform budget-to-actual variance analysis.
- Investigate and explain financial variances.
- Assist with ad hoc reporting and analysis.
Audit & Compliance
- Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation.
- Assist with external audits and compliance requirements.
- Support tax-related filings and reporting activities.
Fixed Assets & Payroll
- Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
- Record payroll-related journal entries and accruals.
- Reconcile employee benefit and payroll accounts.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Support AP and AR processes.
- Process transactions, research discrepancies, and assist with payment activities.
- Partner with internal teams to resolve customer and vendor account issues.
- Reconcile corporate credit card transactions.
Process Improvement
- Assist in improving accounting procedures and internal controls.
- Maintain accounting policies and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
Cash Management
- Prepare bank reconciliations.
- Investigate and clear outstanding reconciling items.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience
- 5+ years of accounting experience.
- Experience with financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end close.
- ERP system experience preferred.
